Every now and then, I skim my way out of the little protected corner of fandom, wandering to friends-of-friends and take a peek at what other people are doing/saying/thinking.
Usually, I find myself wondering why fandom is so damn crazy.
And then I remember. Fandom and sanity are not close neighbours. Hell, they don't even live in the same country, let alone the same neighbourhood. And given that I'm in Australia, we're not just talking 'let's hop over the Canadian/American border', we're talking 'not the same country' as in Spain and Antarctica.
Millions of fan-years worth of continental drift, and the inexorable thrust of the tectonic plates of character and pairing preferences have created mountain ranges out of molehills before juddering to a halt in their motions, leaving fandom and sanity at polar ends of the globe.
Which should be obvious since the term 'fan' is short for fanatic. Sanity is not in our bourne, thank you very much!
But sometimes I need that reminder.

Do you have any interest in helping start up/mod/work with a Teyla & Sam community? Friendship or sexual relationship, femmeslash, gen, het, slash - whatever, as long as it's focused on the two women and/or their relationship.
There doesn't seem to be any comm that I've been able to find! (Maybe I'm not looking in the right places.)
My other question is whether it would be worth doing that - I mean, there seem to be a few pro-S4 comms around, so it might be doubling up.
Thoughts? Opinions? Whacks across the head with a wifflebat? :)

I think a Teyla_Sam comm wouldn't be redundant. Yes, there are a few pro S4 comms and pro each of those characters, but I think it could serve the subset of fandom (it's probably not huge, but it's there) that is interested. But I think this could be more than a pro S4 comm, it can cover before and last after.
I mean from my perspective I only belong to a few character comms and the rest are just the biggies because I don't have a ton of reading time but it would be there for people who are interested and you can run challenges out of it.
I can probably help with the start up, but when my job starts to pick up I might not have the time to do much more.
