I'm terrified that I've sent my grandmother's vintage furs into the void to be lost or stolen.
I found a furrier that will turn them into rugs, but I last spoke with them in January and they gave me an address and I put it off and put it off until the other week when I was going through stuff and found them and thought I'd send them. I have a tracking number...somewhere.
But I haven't heard back from the place. No contact, no response. I called them last week, and again today and left a message. And I'm terrified that either the box turned up and was promptly stolen by someone (because that happens) or else they've gone out of business and simply haven't updated any of their sites.
*sigh* I should have checked first. I should have. But I just wanted them out of the way, so I packaged them up and sent them off...
Mostly I'm worried about what my mum will say. Getting the furs (three of them) converted into a throw rug was a way for us to preserve family heirlooms in a way that worked for all of us (and gave us another throw covering for winter) since none of us wanted to wear the things. And we don't count it wrong to use resources that still have energy to offer - warmth through the winter - even if my mum and sisters would never countenance the killing of these creatures today for fur coats, fur throws, or fur anything.
I'm a permaculturist; to me that entails a responsible use of resources. It means respecting the embodied energy in things that are already made, even if it means transforming things to another purpose.
Anyway, they're not answering their phone, they're not answering their email, it's been two weeks even with the postal service...
It will probably turn up (these things often do) but I'm just anxious right now...

In other news, we got the external shade awnings reinstalled eighteen months after we took them down for the window replacements.
(but my sister's boxes of stuff in the hallway are still there)

I'm working on a work thing that isn't running properly - it keeps coming up in error. And I'm starting to wonder if it's ever successfully run. I can't seem to find any records of it successfully processing.
This is, quite understandably, a worry...
