end of several eras, thoughts on AO3, TikTok, and Monday

For the first time in at least a dozen years, I didn't get a single kudos on AO3 on Friday 17th.

I've had days where I had two kudos, and days where I had one. But other than when the system was entirely down, pretty much ever since I started writing in the MCU, I've had a kudos email every day.

Not anymore.

It's very quiet on TikTok tonight. I've seen more Aussies and Canadians and people with less than 50 likes this evening than I have in the entirety of my time on TT. Also, lots more people finding my 'content' (honestly, it's a lot of people talking right now) and holding conversations.

And they're all so nice. I could yell "GUN CONTROL IS A BEAUTIFUL THING" and...the comments would be almost entirely positive and any negative comment would get taken out the back to have the shit beaten out of it.

...it's...oh man, guys. This must be what it feels like to get out of an abusive relationship. The peace and quiet. No more waiting for the axe to land. No belligerence. No hostile takeovers.

Wow.

As much as I love my American friends, your countrypeeps do kind of take up all the oxygen in the room...

I'm contemplating a social media break for the next week. No Suck/Xitter apps. We'll see how I last. (Probably not very well.)

I did see someone call a Cybertruck a Twitter Twuck, and that is now the proper and right term for them.

I was hoping to finish The Civilian Peace tonight, but concentration has been absolutely shot (for reasons above).

I literally just closed my inbox thinking "damn, I didn't get a kudos email yesterday, for the 7 kudos I got on this specific work, it would be nice to have a record of them, but oh well" and then I went to dw and immediately saw this post. So maybe you didn't get it because something was down. :) (Or maybe not, but it sure was down for me.)

ETA: At least 3 other people didn't get the emails either.

Friday and Saturday were "some of you aren't getting kudos emails but we're troubleshooting" at the AO3. I missed my daily affirmation email, LOL.

It seems other people have also not received their AO3 email that lists kudos, so it isn't just me. (Phew!)

Eu estranhei que faz uns cinco dias de pessoas reclamando das quedas múltiplas do ao3 no tumblr e twitter. Eis que hoje esse post apareceu na minha dash. Eu então entendi muito mais dos problemas. Parece que depois dos ataques ddos, spams de bot com imagens, bots de raspagem ia agora o tráfego está tanto que o site surtou. Será outro ataque ou algo mais simples?

And now I'm wondering if the next few days/weeks are going to see a lot of high-profile media/social media sites that aren't in the "approved" list of the USA government experiencing DDOS attacks...

Olha com Trump já dando luz verde novamente para o TikTok funcionar nos USA após a proibição que ele mesmo iniciou é uma jogada populista que mostra que se alguém fizer barulho e ele se beneficiar em apoiar o que seja haverá liberação. Como o AO3 é muito odiado por uma baita rama de gente (vide puristas, conservadores, preconceituosos e etc) pode ser que haja proibição também e nada ocorra para mudar isso. Ele não é famoso no nível TikTok para ser salvo por perdão presidencial o que me irrita muito. Não duvido que vá ter muitos ataques, agora a orda de criminosos virtuais fará a festa contra as minorias...
