Finished Draft 2 of The Nullifae: And If I Rise. Had to rewrite a whole section in the middle, then cram in a sequence where they meet the Oracle, who's a Fae.

There's still some stuff to be done - I need to rewrite the opening scene so it's more happening, less infodumping. And I think I want to write a snapshot at the end where Jenna is getting more or less fired from her job. Do I write her getting fired from her work, or do I just show her in the doghouse before she calls the Director of Crossover who gave her his number if she decided she wanted a change of scenery?

Choices choices.

It's about 60K finished, which isn't huge but isn't small potatoes either.

Good on ya mate for keeping writing! The contract mess sounds infuriating.

Congrats!! You are awesome! And hmm I guess if there's anything we CAN'T learn in any other scene, include the firing, but otherwise just go with calling the director? Like, if you want to give us some last characterization from her old boss (in case of bringing them back at any point in the future series to get to call back to), then it could be a very important addition. But otherwise, calling the new director makes for a great epilogue I think.

And 60k is on the short side for urban fantasy, but still definitely respectable. 13 COUNTY ROAD 666, the trailer park urban fantasy I got published last year only clocked in at 71k. If you intend to try for agents, you'll want to expand it probably to 80ish(?) in revisions after you get the complete draft 2 absolutely done. But a beta reader *hint hint* might be able to take a look at Draft 2 to see where there might be room to play.

But man what an accomplishment, my dear!!!!!!!!!
