If the baby turns out to be normal (ie, not prone to abnormal growth spurts or ascension), I think there's a good possibility that Kanan will be kept alive to serve as the single father. We've seen it before with Halling so it wouldn't be a big stretch of the imagination. It would also reduce the burden on Teyla and leave her free to continue with her other responsibilities as usual.
Then maybe there'd be occasional trips to New Athos or whatever planet, and Teyla would reunite with her son while Sheppard and Kanan glowered at each other behind her back.
But if he's not normal and turns out to be some sort of Evil Offspring v. 3.0, then I agree Kanan's probably done for. Although I hope not. It's such a cliche by now.
