LOL. You only recently started commenting, dear, so it's not much surprise. And we're usually chatting in persons, so the whole 'conversing through comments' doesn't happen so much...
I think the reason that I slacked off so much (on commenting in general) is cause I don't have access to a computer at work that much... and that (usually during lunch) was when I would do the majority of my commenting.
I suspect that there are very few people who have really active LJs with hundreds of thousands of comments. And most of them are probably BNFs with several hundred people reading them regularly.
See, this is another time that my 'fic snob' kicks in... because a lot of the 'BNF's' that have LOADS of comments and stuff on their fics... are the one that I think SUCK.
I'd rather stick to thinking that only a handful of people read my stuff and getting super excited when someone 'new' posts a comment to my journal.
One reason there's a lot of 'one-off' comments seems to be because I write everything, but the only things I write dedicated are Teyla and John/Teyla, neither of which are particularly popular.
So people come for the occasional genfic or Rodney/Ronon or Ronon/Liz, or whatever, but they rarely stay for anything beyond that, because I don't write their preferred character or pairing...
I think that if you leave a comment on most of my posts - whether meta or fanfic, that helps. And if we had a really long comment conversation (which i think we've done a couple of times), then that definitely adds to your rank! :)

I'm 73?!?!
How did I let myself slip to the point of being 73?!?!?!
:-(
I need to work on that.

How's life and the new semester going?

I suspect it's because, back when people were commenting on my fic, a lot of John/Teyla fans didn't own LJs, so they just posted as 'anonymous'.

At night I'm usually writing ....
Or just chatting... and trying to write...

That's pretty good for a pair who don't share any 'ships and have never been involved in a flame war. :)

I generally bounce around quite a bit too (though most of it is relationship based).
So while I have my majority of Jack/Sam, I also have my Sam/just about everyone under the sun, Jack/Janet, and them my various SGA pairings.
So aside from the Sam/Jack (which I really don't cross post to many comms) I'm too much of a multi-shipper for most people's tastes.

I really want to get something submitable done....
Even if it sucks and gets turned down 100 times.
I'd like to actually move my ass and get it OUT there.
