But then, fandom is not really known for logic or (in some quarters) acknowledging different opinions of the text/show. But, hey... Well, it's generally acknowledged that my slash goggles are broken.

Or, more specifically, I can't see John and Rodney getting an act together emotionally without self-destructing. They're both emotional/psychological black holes, and they really needs something with some emotional solidity to latch onto, or they're toast, IMO.
