Getting worried
about S5 casting and the inclusion of Rachel/Teyla.
While JM assured me that Rachel was going to continue to be in the main cast, someone else is rumour-mongering that a main cast member won't be coming back and is implying it's Rachel.
So, yes, I'm in a lovely and cheerful mood.
The fact that my sister has just had an emotional meltdown in our hotel room may or may not have something to do with my questionable state of mind and hopefulness.
Fic postage tomorrow for the
choc_fic
challenge! Hopefully it goes through okay - hopefully
this post makes it through okay!
For those interested, today was Great Wall of China - the walk up was fine, but I did in my ankle and my butt on the way down - twisted my ankle and bruised my butt sliding down the banisters!

God. I just DO NOT NEED this in my fannish life if this is true.
(And the China posts have been good reading, btw!)

I really mistook that last bit of your post for some kind of metaphor. And then thought, "OH WAIT." XD

And by surprised I mean upset. I try to maintain sanguinity about that sort of thing, but MAN THAT WOULD SUCK.

I think the casting issues have to deal with Amanda, Paul McG, or Torri. Maybe Jewel. Guess we'll find out next Monday!
If Teyla is booted, I am going to be mad. I can understand if Rachel wants to take time off with her baby but if the TPTB get rid of her to bring back someone who was booted in S3, heads will roll!
Also, if it brightens your day a just a bit, JM mentioned they were looking at baby pictures last Monday.

God, I really hope this doesn't turn out to be legitimate. My enjoyment of the show will fall a LOT.

I'm pretty sure that all the flying rumors are either to do with Carson coming back for s5 or Carter not coming back or being reduced in s5.

And I'm okay with that. I love love love me some Carter on SG-1, but I just don't think any of the SG-1 people really belong on Atlantis. They just don't fit and frankly I hate anything that ties Atlantis closer to Earth (in fact, I don't think they should have reestablished contact until several seasons later, if at all, but that's another issue). I'm hoping like hell they bring Weir back. I don't know how they'd rationalize putting her in charge again, but I'd be willing to suspend a lot of disbelief if they'd just give us Weir back!

BTW - have you listened/read the new Torri interview yet?
Although to me, what I've seen of Carter in s4 indicates the problem really wasn't Weir, it was TPTB/the writers.

Yeah, I totally agree with you that the problem is with the writers. I'm not sure if the problem is that they don't know how to write women, that they don't know how to write leaders (i.e. the stay-at-home types as opposed to the action-y field teams), or both. Surprisingly, I'm leaning more towards the second thing than the first, since when they did let Weir off world, she tended to kick major ass. We'll see if the same happens with Carter next week.
Mostly, my biggest problem with Carter isn't really with anything she does, really. I just hate that Atlantis is tied so closely with Earth now and replacing Weir with Carter just pulled it that much closer in my mind. Separationist!Atlantis is my biggest fic kink. Even bigger than John/Teyla! :)
