damned with faint praise

You know, I still haven't worked out if I should be pleased or insulted by feedback which boils down to:

"Well, it was a good fic, even if it did have John/Teyla in it."

I should have thought that good fic was good fic, no matter what pairing it was. But maybe that's me using that damned Earth Logic again?

( Bewilderment. Or possibly rantage. )

...I guess, to completely bastardise the words of Gaius Baltar, I should be glad to have received any praise for my John/Teyla fic - even if it was faint and damning.

SGA/BSG crossover?

While on the topic of Galactica quotations for Stargate fandom, when people talk about 'the fans' in relation to how TPTB are not listening to 'the fans'?

I keep thinking of Six slamming Gaius' head into the mirror or wall with fanatical fervour: God is not pleased, Gaius!

The Terrible Twos

I just realised. This is the two-year anniversary of this LJ. Two years ago, I made my first post about SGA on this journal.

I suppose it's been a productive and growing two years as far as fandom's concerned. I've managed to make a few friends, help kick along a couple of pairings that weren't getting any love, and offend quite a few more 'friends' in the process. I've helped out with various fandom projects, started up a few of my own, fought with assorted people on LJ and off, been banninated, bitched out, bitched about, and generally had a very entertaining (if not always comfortable) time - thanks to you guys - the past and and present f-list.

I'm sure that in the coming year, there'll be dwama and unfriending and bitching out and bitching about, banninations and offence taken - as surely as people are people and fans are fans.

Hopefully, there'll also be *squee* and *hugs*, discussion and meta, random conversations, quality fic, old friendships renewed and new ones developed, interesting ideas bounced around, and a whole new season (with a story arc for Teyla).

To celebrate this landmark, I was going to offer to write ficlets for people. But I have too much on my plate at the moment.

Then I was going to post A Million Ways To Be Cruel - a teamfic with humour. But it's not finished yet.

And then I thought about posting Five First-Chapters Of AUs That Tielan Wants To Write But Never Will For Lack Of Time - but didn't even have the time to write those.
