Right now, my brain is scrambled and I can't seem to focus enough to finish my [livejournal.com profile] avengersfest fic, let alone start a 60,000 plus story.

At least I have Black Jewels Avengers out. No more tweaks, no more touches, no more adjustments.

Right now, work is something of a pain. They have only piddly little pieces for me to do, but they keep on asking if they're done. (Answer: yes.)

Slightly tired, just a little bit down, and feeling very fat and frumpy - my weight's back up again.

So, the Melbourne Cup race might be "the race that stops a nation" and an excuse to party and get drunk, but whatever.

I am a picky partier, darlings. If I'm going to party, I'm going to party with my friends - people I actually like and who I can trust not to undercut the conversation ground out from beneath me with frightening speed. (Oh, great, we're back onto 'let's bag the wife'. That leaves me with, hm, absolutely nothing to talk about, no real voice to argue since I'm the only woman in the office, and stuck feeling decidedly de trop because anything I say is immediately derided because of course I'd take the women's side, never mind that all the shit they're shooting is: a) bullshit, b) hyperbole, c) bullshit, d) really really old.)

Yeah, I want to party with these people! Like I'd want to drink liquid nitrogen.

And then tomorrow, there's the other race that stops the world nation - that nation being the US. Which, of course, is getting coverage over here because the opportunity to point and laugh at Americans (and their political circus) should never be passed up. Ever.

And so, I present (for my American friends who'll scream if you have to watch another political ad) - a little Australian commentary (some of it even lightly humourous) on the American voting system. Mostly by using the example of the Australian voting system.

My family has been quite lucky today - both my sister and I won the Melbourne Cup $1 office sweeps on the "wait, what? what name was that? I didn't even know it was running" horse - the one that wasn't mentioned in the Sydney Morning Herald Melb Cup article as even having odds.

AHAHAHAHAHA!

And the supreme irony? Neither of us watched the race - I didn't because I wasn't particularly enamoured of the race and the kerfuffle around it, and she thought it started half an hour after the time specified on the email and turned up after the race was run.

So I bought a $100mil lottery ticket on the way home. Why not? :D
