So [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang is about to start taking sign-ups!

(They were supposed to open on the 1st May, but I think things got delayed over the weekend, so not yet.)

Assuming I finish The Right Hand Knows Not for the [livejournal.com profile] wipbigbang, I’m going to aim for a fic about Civil War in the MCU.

Basically, this is my pre-emptive Fix-It for Cap3: Civil War since the MCU is apparently going forward with that without Maria Hill.

At this point I have:
1. MCU AU Fest: three options, and given the way my brain works, I might end up writing all three...
2. Not Primetime: lots of options, and again the problem is narrowing down...
3. WIP Big Bang: Maria Hill epic
4. Marvel Bang: Civil War epic

Plus the assorted fics trying to hijack my brain:
- The Odd Couple
- People Who We Are Not

A couple where I’ve started but not really followed through:
- Nothing But The Best
- Dark Queen Ascending

And a few oldies that need just need a quick finish:
- Love, Sweet Love
- Mako Mori and the Eleventy-One Thousand Bridezillas

[community profile] space_swap pinch-hit: Augment (Young Wizards)

Not as detailed as I wanted it to be: I had too many ideas and they all pulled in different directions - or required rather more time than I had to give it. And it was tricksy and difficult and awful and...

It's good enough, but not brilliant. I feel like it needs a jolly good sand and polish. *grumps*

Still, in the end, the recip liked it. So, small and very grateful mercies!

[livejournal.com profile] ship_swap: Gravity's A Bitch (Pacific Rim)

I wrote this pairing once before, and while I like it and the sex is hot, I'm just not that into white males sexing each other. It's not that I dislike white males, I just think female characters are more interesting. (And the feminist in me insists that it's more important to stretch the boundaries for women than to retread the comfort zones for men. Plus, I have the emotional and psychological wherewithal to do so, as well as the will and desire, which I gather a lot of female authors don't.)

It's really just a scene in a bigger emotional picture. Believe it or not, there's enough a plot and a psychological profile behind the sequence. I put it off and put it off and put it off, and in the end, just finished the scene, polished it off, and put it out there.

Better than nothing, although I think it was the recip's "emergency fandom" - "break glass in case of lack of matches" - and it wasn't quite what she was hoping for. (All her other requests were for a single fandom with multiple branches - think Marvel comics.)

Other fics I have committed in the last couple of weeks:

The Odd Couple - Maria/Steve, Maria&Sam, Steve&Sam, post-AoU. WIP - 1/5. Or how a changed outlook on his life gives Steve new options.

People We Are Not - Clint & Natasha, Clint & other, with an intent to portend Clint/Natasha. Basically a fix-it (alternate universe?) for AoU. WIP - 1/2, although reads as complete.

Maybe Why - Maria/Steve, post-AoU. Comment fic for [livejournal.com profile] scribble_myname. A little mood piece - a quiet moment of interaction and intimacy.

Once Worshipped - Maria & Thor & kitten. Comment fic for [livejournal.com profile] geckoholic. Pretty much complete fluff.

His Mother's Son - original character, Maria, Steve, background Maria/Steve. I had a trope bingo square. And I started writing it. And somewhere along the way, this story happened.

Really need to get to bed before midnight. Even if I can't stop my body waking up at 5am, maybe I can persuade my brain not to get in on the act for a couple of hours until the alarm goes off?

Also: either really unfit or getting old. Body hurts after hockey. And this is me without any physical issues! I can't imagine being one of the women dealing with, oh, knees, and ankles, and feet and wrists and things that need binding week after week after week.

I do hope it's unfit. At least I can do something about unfit.

Have 45 minutes to midnight. The race is on...

Oh, and here, have some quilt that I made over the weekend:

Ran out of the top spool. But 2/3 done! (It looks much better when my nose isn't 4" from the fabric...) #aussietulapinkswap

That's the half-finished version, I'll post a pic of the full one up when I'm done, along with an explanation of the process. (Basically: I had an assigment for a quilt exchange, I forgot about it, and had to do a rush job over the weekend.)
