I feel like the treat I previously posted needs some serious work. It was going to be 9 parts, but I've only written 1, largely because I had a concept but once I started writing it I wasn't sure it worked. Story of my fannish writing life.

Putting together a dress that I made a muslin for the top just to see whether the dimensions worked and if the cut worked. (It needed more length at the shoulder, but yes, the cut works.

This has probably been the wildest year in terms of weight. I started around 61kg at the beginning of the year, dropped to 56kg in the middle of it, and have shot back up to 63kg now. Which makes dressmaking a bit risky, because what fits me at 63kg doesn't fit me quite the same way if I get back down my preferred weight which is probably around 58-60kg. (I lose weight around the waist and sides first, then breasts, thighs, and finally belly - but the belly goes somewhere between 56kg and 54kg.)

90% of cards are out and winging their way across the sea. The last 10% will be sent out today or tomorrow.

The lovely thing about a local church and getting to know older local people (actually my own age and older - probably the mid-40s group, but at the 'older' stage of life where they have families and kids in primary and high school, etc.): you get invitations to stuff and they're really focused on including you. I went to dinner at the house of one of my bible study leaders a couple of weekends ago - actually, I got invited last minute, since the husband of the other study leader is in cancer recovery and wasn't up to a dinner, so I got invited to fill his place. Then, last night, I got invited to a trivia night at the local pub - the invitation was emailed around to the entire service (about 80 people, probably 30-some families) but the woman organising it texted me to make sure I got it. I wasn't thinking of going until that point, but I went and had a great time chatting with a few people I hadn't had the chance to sit and chat with before. And on the way out, one of the other women said "hubs and I are having an open house on New Year's Eve - if you have nothing on, you're more than welcome to turn up."
Honestly, at my old church, I languished for invitations out. They were lovely people, just a touch cliquey (as church people tend to be). At any rate, this makes an incredible change to feel like someone that people want to spend time with.

chocolateboxcomm is taking nominations for their pairings. It's a low-key, low-commitment fandom gift exchange. This year's schedule is posted here.

This year there are distressingly few
fandom_stockings that I feel I can stuff. I'm not in anyone's fandom anymore...

Still haven't seen Rogue One. Will rectify this...maybe I could do that tonight, actually...
