My quilt-given-as-a-Christmas-gift was a big hit, apparently.

My gifts for Yuletide are lovely:

Valdemar Series - Lackey
Seasons of Love
Moments in a year in the life of Keisha Alder. Set after Owlsight.
Little episodes scattered through the year where Keisha and Darian fall in love and come to terms with each other.

Building Blocks
"then things are actually better than they were before the fight, I think, because they've made another compromise with each other." -Darian Firkin
Resolution after conflict. Very much in the style of Lackey herself.

And the recs for what I've read so far:

Calvin & Hobbes
The Anachronistic Calvin & Hobbes
John Calvin has a chronologically-impossible friend. It had to happen.
This is weird but fascinating, hovering between philosophically theological and lighthearted fun.

British Government Cats RPF, Slip Slidin' Away - Paul Simon (Song), Monstress (Comics), Rivers of London - Ben Aaronovitch, Young Wizards - Diane Duane
Assistance To British Nationals Abroad
Three cats, three humans, a dog and a tarantula walk through a Gate -
I've only gotten about 5K through this (I thought it would be short and sweet. It's 20K!) but I'm really enjoying the intersections of worlds!

Wonder Woman
Older Than I Once Was
The people who believe in Napi say he went away to the West, and they are not wrong. But the nice thing about the West is that if you go that way long enough, it becomes the East.
A look into Napi, his thoughts, his mindset, and what he's doing over in the war. It's beautifully written, in a style that isn't at all comfortable to read (I suspect it's not supposed to be) but which flows nevertheless.

Five Things Antiope Taught Diana (And One Thing She Never Got the Chance To)
What it says on the tin.
The dynamic between Diana and Antiope, and Diana and the people in Man's world is teased out so wonderfully in this fic. And that last scene with Etta and Diana? Beautiful. (I really need to go hunt up some Etta & Diana post-war fics.)

The More Deadly Of The Species
The first thing she ever kills is a rat.
Isabel Maru fic that comes from a place where she's always had the ruthlessness inside her, and the scarring/deformity is a result of that ruthlessness, not what drives her. The scene where she looks at her scarred face is chilling, but the ending is exquisite.

My own fics have received a reasonable response - nothing spectacular, but then they never do.

More to come as I work my way through the various fandoms!

Betty is separating eggs when Natasha finds her in the facility kitchen.

She’s pretending each crack of a shell is Bruce’s impossibly thick head, while the sound of the shell breaking is the slap of her palm against Brunnhilde’s perfect curve of a cheek. Okay, so it’s small and petty and stupid, because Bruce still carries the Hulk around, and Brunnhilde is basically indestructable considering she survived Hela not once, but twice, but it’s also soothing.

My [community profile] marvelismarvel assignment for Meatball42. I was thinking about doing Sam/Tony, but decided this presented a more interesting opportunity.
