I've decided I'm going to play this year, even though I suspect my right big toe joint won't like it at all.
We will probably run three teams, and since we've had a few people drop out and a few new people sign up, I might end up back in Team 2 which...I'm ambivalent about tbh.
The advantage of Team 3? I could rest on my laurels a bit - plus, there were players in Team 3 with whom I gelled. One woman I've been playing with since we were at uni together, one player who was always precisely where I needed her to be in the circle when I passed the ball, another player who could be relied on to be at the post and sweep it in, and it was pretty easy going. We found ourselves winning, which was nice, but the personalities were also manageable and meshed in the end (even if the annoyingly loud former president of the club grated when she tried to order everyone around).
It's going to be a rough year for Team 1, though. They've lost at least one good player, and another of their players has asked not to be put in Team 1 again (she's tired, she wants a break). While they've have regained a good player who played two years ago (but went off to do a gap year out in the countryside), none of the new players seem particularly adept. At least four newbies who showed up last night, one was beginner and uncertain, one was beginner but game, and two were intermediate - probably better once they get back into the swing of it.
Anyway, I go where I'm graded. I play with whom I gotta play with.
