I may have a light case of tennis elbow; going to see the physio on Monday. (Couldn’t get an appt any earlier.) The main thing right now is not to make it worse – at least not until after the grand final. We’re already down our usual centre forward because she tore a muscle in her leg after coming back from an injury too soon.
This is difficult, because it’s my right arm, which is my dominant arm and I reach/grab/pick up with it all the time without thinking. Plus, with spring in full fling (next week has a couple of days predicted to reach the mid-twenties), my garden needs work NOW. I’m already frustrated by my garden’s apparent barrenness (particularly compared to the gardens I see on Instagram – I know, I know, it’s Instagram). I’m also a bit worried, because I should probably have done a soil test three years ago when I first started gardening, and now that I’m getting to it…it feels a little late.
So I am paying someone from Airtasker to help me move some horse manure and make compost heaps and net the fruit trees on Saturday morning. And possibly move bricks. I’ve worked with him before – he was a hard worker, but he slept in that morning, was supposed to start at 9am, and arrived at 11am. Also, he wasn’t a horticulturist, but a garden maintenance guy, which was a bit annoying since I had to explain to him how to turn a compost heap…
I probably should do that “5 Things That Don’t Suck”, because while so much of my life Seriously Does Not Suck, it’s sometimes so easy to lose sight of that.

- I had a really good hot chocolate from the drinks machine: it tasted like actual hot chocolate.
- My mother called last night just to see that I was okay. She and the stepdad are enjoying Taiwan.
- My chooks are back to laying an egg a day, like clockwork. So far they haven’t broken out of the chook yard.
- A rare, out-of-print fabric collection is due to be delivered today or tomorrow – 2 yards of each print which I got extremely lucky at.
- The kumquat jam I made last night is AMAZING. I added a splash of Rodham Rye, a broken-up star anise, and six cloves to it, and it tastes SPECTACULAR.
