FANDOM: Dragonriders of Pern
TITLE: The Queens Love These Times
SUMMARY: Shortly after the Five Weyrs come forward, Prideth rises to mate. Lessa and F’lar escape to the South.
CHARACTERS: Lessa, F'lar

The characterisation in this one is absolutely spot on. Lessa is still wonderfully prickly and I love the banter. The author said she was trying to go for pure fluff but felt the characters were too responsible not to do a bit of recon, and I think that it works so much better for the touch of concern and consideration that they still give for the needs of the weyr.

FANDOM: Jupiter Ascending
TITLE: Dinner for Two
SUMMARY: A dinner, a confession.
CHARACTERS: Jupiter, Caine

This one is pure fluffy goodness, with Jupiter being very much a modern young woman of Earth beneath the imperial space queen, and Caine being appreciative of Jupiter's attentions, even as he think he's beneath her. It makes me want to pull out my half-finished Jupiter/Caine fics and actually try to finish one.

I am delighted with both of them, and actively reading through the archive for canons that I know, which I don't usually do. I still have a dozen tabs open, mostly of longer stories of 3K or more, so I'll work my way through it over the next few days.

Third gift has been commented upon and it's a DOOZY of a comment. In fact, it's two comments (I think they ran out of characters). They loved it. LOVED IT.

(Which is good, because B1 finally read the canon, it being one of B2's favourite books, and on the way home from parentals this evening, we had a discussion about the book. I mentioned I'd written a fic for it, and B1 promptly vetoed the ideas I'd written about as 'too modern' - without even reading the story. Cheerful. But I figure if the recipient liked it, then we're good.)

Interestingly, the YT fic with perfunctory thanks is also the one with the best kudos-to-hits ratio. The YT giveth, and the YT taketh away...

I still have a half-dozen fics open to read - slightly midlength ones now, although I'm still struggling with reading them.

Today's thing with the extended family/relatives was really great. Nobody ended up being able to make the beach in the morning so I went by myself, spent some time in the surf before coming back out and then it was food and conversation from about 10:30 until 5pm. I'm so tired.

We brought back so much food; like, crazy volumes of the stuff. CRAZY. We'll be sick of it by the end of the weekend, and the chooks will get the excess. Which is as it should be, I think.

Hm. If I manage to get the new chook house cleaned tomorrow, then I might be able to get help to move it on Saturday when someone comes around to pick up some of the load of mulch which is still sitting on my lawn killing the grass my sister so loves! HMMM...

I've written a little more to the other side of infinity, and posted the final chapter of No Ever After, and finally have the kernel of an ending for what should have been my [community profile] intoabar entry earlier this year. We'll see if it takes after all...
