Oh, Thursday night, work Christmas party. A dinner and drinks out at a restaurant with a beautiful harbour view.

Let's just say that my ability to hold my alcohol has gotten really bad. I had one glass of red, half a glass of white, and a third of a cocktail and I just couldn't keep dinner down. I wasn't drunk, but it seems my body wasn't willing to deal with the alcohol. Or my fish just didn't agree with me. Which, barramundi, it seemed cooked, and others ate without a problem. Otherwise, it was a lovely night of catch-up, but I was so tired by the end of it.

Friday was trying to tidy up the house as much as possible since B1 was hosting her bible study group for dinner on Saturday. It went...okay. Ish. Except that my arm was very sore because I was pushing things and lifting things and moving things...

On Saturday morning 4am I woke to B1 having a bath - she'd only just started her bedtime routine. But the dining table was clean, for the first time in perhaps years! At 10:30am, the parentals turned up (by arrangement) to install our new TV on a wall bracket. Our new 52 inch TV that they were discarding now they'd upgraded to a bajillion inch TV. They were going to throw it out because they couldn't find anyone to take it. So. My stepdad came over, did all the calcs and measurements, markings, and drillings, and we got the frame on the wall and the TV up!

It's kind of...huge.

Clean and tidy, vacuum and mop (a little). Get as much fur off the various chairs as is humanly possible. Move the furniture around so the room is better situated for entertaining. And then I had a drinks-and-nibbles party Saturday night. Come home and try to sleep. Fail rather miserably until 1am.

Wake grumpy and exhausted and well aware that I'm not supposed to be doing anything effort-ful.

I didn't try connecting the sound system on the new TV until 2pm - we have an AV system and a DVD player, outdated as such technology is - but my attempts were miserable failures...so the twins ended up plugging in the old 32" TV and watching that instead...

I am looking down the barrel of three months of no-work: December, Jan, and February. Dec and Jan are expected, Feb I booked a holiday with someone to travel through the centre of Australia, up to Darwin and out to South East Asia. I can pay for it, but I will be poor after.

So...March is the next payday. Which means tightening the belt, not buying all the things, being money-wise as well as water-wise, and trying to grow things in the garden that I can actually eat.

--

I'm stymied in all the things I need to do in the garden right now (reposition/replant trees, set up irrigation systems, move fences, make garden bed frames) because of the arm and it's just so frustrating.

I had to default on the Pinch Hit I'd picked up from the last batch. I need the arm to get better and even typing too much can be a strain. I'm really annoyed at myself; I thought I'd be able to do it, but just can't seem to focus.
