Seriously, I'm having major issues with fandoms lately. The massive lady-hating (all from fandoms with a heavy female majority of fans!) is really insane. It seems no matter where I go (either of the Stargates, Supernatural, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Heroes, Buffy, Veronica Mars, the list is endless), there's a violent hatred of women. They're all stupid, incompetent harpies who aren't good enough to share the screen with the male woobies heroes. And forget about relationships! It's All Slash, All The Time because only men can really appreciate the amazing awesomeness of the other men on the show. Now, don't get me wrong, as a bisexual woman I'd love a wider, more nuanced portrayal of sexualities in the media. Y'all, McShep (or worse, Sam/Dean *shudder**gag*) ain't it.
I'm right there with you. I really have to wonder why these gals are so obsessed with the boys to the point that all women are suspect. Which always makes me want to ask, "So does that mean you hate yourself? Hmmm?"
Hell, I'd be happy to have more sexualities on display. For me McShep fails if only because I can't see them hanging out as friends in the ways that guys generally do. That's actually my demarcation point.
