I think the whole thing would have read infinitely less chauvinistic if it had been the female commander making a measured decision rather than a man flipping out and yelling at Teyla what she can and cannot do with her body, and having him proved oh-so-VERY-correct at the end.
It's good drama when both sides have a point, but in the end the episode went with John not even having to apologize for being an emotional (see, it's not just for the ladies) jerk about the decision and Teyla huggingly accepting his complete and total rightness. That's just creepy and infuriating--and I stopped watching the show in part because when I heard about RL's pregnancy I knew we'd end up here and I wanted to avoid that frustration!
