I'm reccing fics for [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec this month, in the 'Sam/Jack' category.

It's something of a dilemma.

My recs are going to be as much Sam/Jack friendship (ie. "gen" rather than "het") as Sam/Jack relationship. This may cause a problem to others (who want the sex-sex-sex aspect or much angst, deep revelations, and kissing to get their happies).

Call me weird, but I like the stories which don't require sex, angst, or much smoochies to work. There's a certain skill in acknowledging that the two character like each other, are friends, and colleagues, without necessarily crossing the line over into lovers, although they may love. In short, what is seen in the show as it is interpreted by the writers and actors of the show is my preferred take on the relationship - although I'm amenable to a well-written piece of outright relationship-fic when it presents itself.

Yes, technically Sam/Jack friendship is covered in the 'gen' section, but such stories tend to be written by Sam/Jack fans, and their work is dismissed to 'ship' accordingly.

To hell with it. I'm applying for Sam/Jack friendship as well.

I haven't read that much in the fandom in recent months - my tolerance for bad writing, dodgy plot, and questionble characterisation has diminished considerably since I first began in this fandom, so many of my recs will be 'oldies but goodies' from a couple of years back: tried and true fanfics.
