Well, dude, then you should say! *g* Authorial intent is what canon's all about; there's playing with the text, but then there's what was intended by the writers, which isn't important to everyone, I know, but it's the last word in canon, as far as I'm concerned. So, yes, if they've said it was John, it was John. I've been giving them more credit for having a plan and following it to where we are now than they've deserved.
