However, after an encounter earlier this evening, I'm still fuming.
Anyone willing to write me a Teyla-centric ficlet and help restore my equilibrium? I'd love a ficlet from you! I don't think I can wait until May to get fic about her!
Never written her? Give her a try! Not sure where to start? 100 words is fine! Think she's about as useful as a soggy biscuit? UNFRIEND PLZ, KTHXBAI!

Daniel looked over at the sleeping boy, all comfortably wrapped in soft blue baby blankets, his little chest rising and falling, his face almost glowing with contentment, and a slight smile on his full, red lips. He couldn’t help but think of baby Shifu, as the tiny Harsesis looked up at him with adoring, curious eyes, grasping the material of his shirt, almost begging him not to let go. He’d be safer with her, and I promised Sha’re, dear Sha’re, that he’d be safe, but I don’t want to let go of the one last…
Teyla entered the room as quietly as she could and watched the man as he watched her child sleeping. It was a sad look on his face, yet she’d come to recognize that often this man appeared sad when he thought no one else was looking.
He looked up as she approached the two. “Teyla, I, I didn’t hear you come in.” He stood and she tried to tell it was okay, but he was too fast. “He’s asleep; fast asleep.” Daniel smiled.
“He presented no problems?” Teyla asked as she picked up some of her son’s new toys from the top of her bed, which was now quite untidy from Daniel’s time with her son. He had insisted that it was no problem to keep an eye on the infant as she attended an unexpected team meeting. She was certain she’d only be gone for a little while and then they could pick up on his interview with her about the Ring Ceremony and the Tea Ceremony and all things Athosian.
“He didn’t seem very interested in the first few pages of my geological report on M3X-328, but as soon as I started reading about your people, he was as all ears … until it was time for a diaper change, and well, you know how that goes…” Daniel smiled. Yes, he knew how to change diapers, just like he knew how to deliver babies. He suddenly grew quiet, shook his head ever so slightly, and started to pick up his papers from the bed. “Um, let me just get these in some kind of order…”
“Please, take your time. I took the liberty of bringing us something to eat,” she said as she pointed to a tray that she had placed on the table inside the door as she entered. Daniel was embarrassed that he hadn’t noticed.
“Oh!” he said as he stared at the tray. “I didn’t realize it was so late.”
“It was the least I could do for your effort…”
“No effort. I mean, no trouble at all.”
They smiled at each other as they continued to clean off the top of Teyla’s bed. She had been given larger quarters now that she was a mother. When everything was put away, Teyla brought the tray over and set it on the table near the balcony window. “We could eat outside. I believe the air is fresh and calm,” she said as she turned to look out the window. He saw it then, a sadness in her eyes as she looked out beyond the railing.
Daniel approached her slowly and then placed a hand on her shoulder as he gazed out the window from behind her. Quietly, he stood there until she turned around and looked up into his eyes. She saw familiarity with loss there. “What do you know of –“
“I know,” he replied softly as he touched his forehead to hers and they both sighed.
NOTE: I imagined that Daniel and Teyla would be able to share in a lot of things when I heard that Michael Shanks was visiting Atlantis before "The Kindred" aired. I had assumed that Teyla and her son were the last of the Athosians and that Daniel was there to record the traditions of the Athosians. I also imagined that he was looking for a history of the Ancients in the stories, traditions, and songs of the Athosians who worshipped the Ancestors.

I hope they do something like this in the episode in which Daniel is supposed to come to Atlantis. I don't imagine they will, though. :(

I know, it's a downright shame, too. :(
Character development seems to always take a back seat, or even the cutting room floor, to the plot. When I heard about the "stand-alone" nature of the SG-1 movies, I was afraid that there would be absolutely no character development for any of the team members.
I'm especially attached to Daniel, so I was thrilled to hear that he'll be visiting Atlantis. From what I've read about the visit, though, it seems he'll mostly be tied up with Rodney, but I'm hoping that he'll share some time with Teyla. I think the two of them would have a lot to talk about. I've enjoyed watching Daniel when he's in his element of absorbing his surroundings and appreciating everything about them.
I'm wondering if they'll ever go back to the old city on Athos now that the Wraith have been so terribly crippled. I think there would be some interesting things there to explore, just like in Atlantis itself.
Daniel will be in two key episodes of the season, and the new enemy is going to be introduced then as well. I think it would be cool to have Dr. Jackson visit Atlantis more often. But, that's just me coming from an SG-1 fan's POV. I know that there are some fans who don't like that idea at all.
