Some notes I found useful on "good vidding" from a couple of people in the fandom, and reflections on what makes "good vids" for me.
Some Thoughts On Good Vidding: the matter of aspect ratios - crucially important! Once upon a time, way back in the far distant time of 30Mb episodes of SG1, I was willing to accept aspect radios that were up the proverbial creek sans paddle. Not anymore.
Getting Started in Video Editing: I particularly like the part on Timing Is Your First Priority. I've seen too many vids that were really just a string of clips hung together with a song in the background. Pretty, but not good vidding.
This is probably one reason why I like
obfreak's John/Teyla vs Teyla/Ronon vid to Rihanna's "Unfaithful": because it's clever editing. From the colour fade-outs to the way it's all put together. It makes me admire the vidder - the same way I admire Nibbiko's SG1 Sam/Jack vid to Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" or the Teyla-vid to the opening credits of Kim Possible. It's clever vidding, not just a song that I like with scenes that I like.
I'm thinking of making vids, but I want to make good vids. Well-edited, song-relevant vids. Any links?

Since I'm not caught up on BSG, I'll just leave y'all to go nuts, will I? :)
