Once again, SGA fandom depresses me.
The person who mentioned the promo shots being of every other character except Teyla (there are at least four promo shots that include Teyla in there, but clearly a once-seen guest character and "the new chick" are important enough to mention, while Teyla is not)? The person who wants more John and Rodney and less John and Teyla in a show that is already 90% John and Rodney and 1% Teyla and anyone? Joe Mallozzi and his persistent refusal to say anything about Teyla in Season 5 other than repeated pointing at 'Teyla's rescue' and 'The Queen'?
2,500 words to be done today. And I have no motivation or enthusiasm or desire to write any of it.
Oh, and the chocolate mousse was delish. But there are two bowls still in the fridge for my sisters and they haven't eaten them yet. They get a first and final warning and then I'm going to nab them. I'm depressed; chocolate is my natural ally.

While I don't follow the show that closely, I have to say the one thing it DOES NOT need is more John and Rodney. Don't get me werong, I like both characters, but it's not Stargate: John and Rodney. I would love to see more Teyla, Ronon, Lorne, Zelenka, Keller, etc. John and Rodney get way more screen time than any of the other characters as is and some variety would be nice.

Actually what concerns me about screen time is the fact that Carson is in five eppys an d at least two of them are Carson focused....plus the fact Keller is expanded. I loved Carson but now it seems that bringing him back means less screen time for the rest of the cast.
And yes, seems JM really loves the new female minor character...I'm so sick of seeing her on his blog...lol

In spite of repeated statements, it continues to feel very much like the new female character has been brought in as an 'early replacement' for Teyla either later this season or next season.
Basically, everyone except Teyla is listed as getting screentime this season - the only episode that's about Teyla is "The Queen" and from the sound of it, it's really just "Teyla needs saving from the Wraith by her team-mates because she gets into trouble that's more than she can handle."

I doubt teh Cpatin Vega chic is a reaplacement for Teyla. They switched who was in charge of Atlantis with a male, so they brought in some other female..which is annoying. I'd rather have more Teyla or Lorne then some hot chic.
Who I'd be more worried about is Keller. Martin G 'loves' her which means he'll write Rodney and now Keller.
sigh
I'm not getting that vibe from "The Queen" ---but we'll see.

Hell, compared with what she's had in the past three years (victim, useless, greek chorus), I'd settle for Teyla active and significant in every episode, even if she never got character development.
Still, having John on-screen is old hat for the Sheppard-fans, so I can see why you'd want more.
I'd just like more Teyla - scenes, lines, character development, anything that doesn't dead-end her - and, yet again, it looks very much like the Teyla-fans are going to be denied it.

I agree...instead of expanding the cast (Keller, adding in Carson because of a stupid mistake and now Vega)..just focus more on who they have.
I think they only character that gets any devlopment or 'meaty' eppys is Rodney. Though they've done better with Ronon which makes me happy--it'd be nice to seee Teyla get the same treatment Ronon got last season. Just those extra scenes, or moments.
And I know John's on screen the most, but the writer's just like to stick him in action eppys unless Flanigan bullies them into doing something more than that.

I totally agree with all of what you're saying. I have enough of Teyla being ignore. After all if they want hot chicks to attract eople they can makepics of teyla too or except Keller and now Vega we have nobody else.
I really understand the fan of Shep too because as Tielan said he is everywhere but I have to agree that he seems more in the background.
I really think too that Ronon suffer a lot this season. Except Reunion and Midway he did absolutely nothing.
On this point I thought season 4 was good for Teyla. Not that it was particularly good but while everybody seems to have less screen time (even Rodney let a little his place) Teyla gain a little. So I keep hope that they don't want to let us Teylafans down.
My problem is Keller. I hate to say it because it seems that I'm anti and I hate this. But on all the cast I think she gains a lot more. She had ep focused on her, she became a main cast (I didn't even understand why she wasn't in season 4, she had more screentime and story than Carter) and she even gains love interests while Teyla was so ugly is well known that nobody cared for her (ok you all understood it was ironic I hope lol).
I agree I have problem too with the fact that people complain there is too much Shep McKay show and when a woman gains screentime it's a drame. (I say women because really Ronon didn't seem to have so much hate). I'm really tired of theShep McKay show and the sexism (it's perhaps only my interepretation and I'm oversensitive now lol I hope because I really think that SGA is more and more a macho world).
I wanted to read some fanfic to distract me and I have to say that only Shep and McKay seems interesting sometimes you even have Ronon and Carson and no Teyla lol.
Ok sorry I go a little long but I totally agree with you on the pics it's really unnerving. And what unnerves most it's that it didn't seem to come from the writers but from the MGM or Scifi and it really bothered me.
Sorry I hope I didn't spam you (and once again I'm sorry for my english).
As for chocolate it's my best ally too you don't know how much I eat it and how mùuch sometimes I'm depressed over SGA while I love this show.

I'm just so, so tired of the "Rodney McKay and Some Other People" Show. I like Rodney, I really do, but...I like Teyla, and she deserves better than the writers are giving her.

Exactly!
It probably doesn't help that the writers like taking the easy way out. Rodney's neuroses are easy to write: take whatever angle you want and run with it as far as it goes. The character lends himself to caricature and exaggeration. Teyla requires serious thinking and subtle writing - which is more effort, alas!
