At work. Can't IM, but can access email and some LJ. However, I've finished my assigned work already and can't move on any of the others until a couple of people get in.

It should now be coming up to 1am GMT, I'll be here until 8am GMT.

SG1, Atlantis, Bones, Iron Man, my [livejournal.com profile] sgabigbang, your [livejournal.com profile] sgabigbang, challenge prompts, JT Thing-A-Thon...whatever!

Talk to me! I'll do my best to keep talking through the day.

What's one thing you hope to see in season 5 (besides Teyla actually getting something to do :D )?

Give me...

5 reasons why Teyla should be the lead on SGA.
3 reasons why Booth doesn't just smack Bones ('cause you know he's thinking it, especially in S1).
1 reason why they should have brought Michael Welch (mini-clone Jack from SG1 S7) back to guest star a second time.

I finished my first Thing-a-thon story (it came out to 6400 words, gah), and I've got past the YAY IT'S DONE relief stage and am now firmly entrenched in but what if my recipient doesn't like it? argh! zone. *flail* Am also about a fourth of the way through the second story, which looks like it will be a more respectable 2 to 3 thousand words. (Getting that second assignment really helped me get going on the first one. Isn't that weird? It seems really weird to me. *hands*)

I read an Iron Man/Spiderman story the other day, which was surprisingly good (I lack any interest whatsoever in reading fanfic about Spiderman for some reason, possibly because the movies are fun but Peter is so dang WHINEY). It featured cameos by the Fantastic Four, and now I want to read a big epic gen adventure that crosses over Iron Man and F4 with emphasis on interaction between Tony and Johnny Storm. That would be AWESOME.

If the reason you can't IM at work is technological (which is to say, they've blocked YIM and AIM) there are a couple of alternatives that could let you still chat without having to run either client directly.

The most comprehensive is through GMail's chat -- it will let you log into other IM engines on top of their own. So, you log into GMail, sign into their chat, and then have their chat log you into your chosen IM with your chosen ID. Your computer talks HTTP to GMail's chat engine, and it translates it at their end to the proper ports to talk to the other IM engine. I've used it to chat to someone on AIM despite our IT department having blocked all IM clients on our network.

Another alternative is AIM Express -- go to aol.com, click on the AIM icon in the top of the left hand column, and sign in with your normal AIM account. It works pretty much the same way as GMail chat -- HTTP to the server, which then takes care of getting it to the other end correctly.

Since both methods use HTTP from your computer to the initial server, you should be able to chat as long as you can browse. [Assuming, of course, that either gmail.com or aol.com aren't blocked as well as your IM channels.]

Good luck!

is it too late?

(if it is, no worries; I hope all went well for you - that's what's important)
