Teyla, my darling, you just haven't been talking to people from places with crappy economies. In MT, for example, it's rare for a woman NOT to have to go back to work.
That being said, I love your take on Kanaan/Teyla because, honestly, there is zero chemistry there. Kanaan is a horridly bland character, Teyla is so far out of his leauge -- and you've captured that "shotgun wedding" feel that Kanaan and Teyla have on the show here. You've also captured the fact that John is perceptive enough to notice.
