I really, really liked this one too! It was very exciting and fun.

I agree, I would also have liked to see more of the AU realities, but the heavy action/excitement nature of the ep just wouldn't fit with that. I think it would have been really awesome if they'd kept jumping realities for several episodes (with longer stretches between jumps). Like that show Sliders before it started sucking. That would have been cool. Maybe it could have been one of their 3-part season finale/openings. Maybe someone will do an AU fic series!

I liked the concept of the ep as it was, too, though. I thought the shifting to different realities was cool and the dangers they faced were diverse enough to keep things interesting without feeling like the writers were going "Okay, what else?" and just piling things on. The abandoned Daedalus and the discovery of their dead doubles was really creepy in a quiet way, and each challenge from there ramped up the tension a little more.

I liked Teyla being useful in a somewhat new capacity (although we've seen her use Atlantis tech before, just not in ship-related situations). It's not like she magically had McKay-level, or even Sheppard-level, familiarity with the systems simply for plot purposes. She was familiar enough to be useful, but she's still in the process of learning so there are things she didn't know and had to ask help for (like a grown-up, without hesitation or shame!), which is something I found believable.

And yes, I have already seen people complaining about that, saying it's so unbelievable. One "generous" soul was gracious enough to allow that even though it was a little unbelievable, it was kind of nice to see Teyla in a capacity other than "hot alien chick." It's a really, really good thing you can't stab people in the face over the internet, because my fuse is extremely short these days. The next time someone says something stupid like that, do you mind if I link to this old post of yours about how it's fandom that really defines Teyla as T&A, rather than the show (http://tielan.livejournal.com/152403.html#cutid1)?

Anyway, as always, Ronon was completely awesome with what little he had. I loved how he quickly and calmly talked Teyla down when she was headed toward getting herself all angsty about alternate universe Torrans. I liked how he pistol whipped that one alien guy. And I loved how he got frustrated and started banging on that console, then yelled at Sheppard.

McKay was typical "OMG, we're all going to die!!!1eleventy! Oh, wait, I fixed it." But I enjoy McKay, so that doesn't actually bother me. David Hewlet sounded like he was having a touch of sinus problems, though. Poor guy. His "I got shot!" was hysterical. He always sounds so disbelieving when stuff like that happens.

Shep was really hot in this episode. I liked the bit with him and his double. It was obvious to me that his double had figured out who he was and had some vague idea about what was going on (like, "Yeah, that's definitely me over on that ship. Oooo-kay."). It really subtly underscored his intelligence, which can get lost sometimes.

So in conclusion: Yay, show!
