I can see why they did it - it does make sense in a way: they've hit the syndication point, the actors are all experiencing "the itch", and the cost/returns ratio on movies with an established fanbase is better than that of an ongoing series.

Honestly, though, introducing the new a mere day after booting out the old? People are still getting over the loss of SGA - give them a couple of weeks, *then* announce the greenlight of SGU.
