So it looks like "The Queen" is the only episode that's going to significantly feature Teyla - when asked if Teyla was in any other episodes after "The Queen", JoeM only replied: "Prodigal."

At best, I suspect that Teyla fans can hope for her to have a moderate role in "Prodigal".

At worst, we can take JoeM's response as literal and assume that after "The Queen", the only episode Teyla will be in at all is "Prodigal". In which case, Rachel Luttrell's farewell message on her site becomes quite clear: she's done with filming for the year.

I don't suppose anyone else complaining about how their character gets no storyline would like to reconsider their opinion on what constitutes "no storyline"?

Rachel and David both have blogs...some of which of course don't get updated very often..but it is their pipeline. So when the cancellation was made..I think she would address here fans, right? David did.

Trying to be positive, they only had one last eppy to film (20)--maybe 18? before finishing (19) which is being filmed in Vegas so its being done out of order.

I'm staying positive, a lot of these eppys are more team focused and I'm very excited for "The Queen"....and thats how Joe M answers most questions on his blog--short and sweet.

This of course does not temper my resentment towards Keller screen time vs. Teyla's....which I've been annoyed about for a while. And I'm not trying to bash..I just want Teyla who has bee there since..say season one to have more plots than Keller.

But I'm not going to stay ticked....trying to be upbeat since its the last season.

I'm sorry that you've had to take on the story, I know you have a lot on your plate. I will admit though I'm tickled that you're working on it. No rush! Another week or so will not hurt.

But...this gives me a chance to let you know that I'm going to expand my horizon here soon...after I get a few more things crossed off my list and I'm going to write something for you. And when I have that free time, I'm going to ask you for a couple of prompts to help guide the way :D

And yes, its of the rating you've requested from me for a while :D

I'm with K999, I would've liked to seen Teyla in more front burner stories this season. As it is S&R, Queen & Prodiqal seem to be her stories to look forward to. As mentioned JM can sometimes keep things short and sweet or just short. We also have to remember we have been surpised by great moments that were not spoiled. So in the interest of trying to remain positive for the rest of the season, that's my hope.

As for Rachel's comment on her blog, it made me a little sad. Someone mentioned that they tried to post and the post were being filtered first which was not the case before. I hope she has not been getting negative feedback that may have resulted in such a response. In any case maybe Teyla will be developed more in movie format, which will provide a bigger canvas on which to play.

Oh, shoot, I didn't see this post before I replied in the "Teyla MIA" one down below just a minute ago. I linked to an interview with Rachel and Paul about the cancellation and it mentions talking to them while they were filming "Identity" (ep 17), so she's not done after "Prodigal"! And in it, she mentions something like making sure to enjoy filming the last few episodes, so I take it she's in those too.

While I, too, am seriously cranky about the lack of major Teyla screen time, I don't think she's going to disappear entirely and I'm hoping that the back half of the season will be Teyla heavy like first season (kinda) and last season were. I vaguely remember JM mentioning on his blog something about how the front half of the season is Rodney and Ronon heavy (so, really, Rodney heavy with The Ronon Episode), which I took to mean there'd be more Teyla later.

There'd better be more Teyla, since this season is all we're getting. If not, I'm gonna have to cut a bitch.

Maybe I'll split the difference and do both!

The Queen is the only remaining s5 ep that I'm looking forward too because it features Teyla. I'm also convinced that Teyla was shuttled aside for Keller, which is exceptionally frustrating considering how much I'd rather see the serene and awesome Teyla and more about her new family over the dorky and awkward Keller. Le sigh.

I think Teyla suffered the same fate as Weir - TPTB just didn't know what to do with her and how to develop her. Keller appears to be much more appealing to them, whether it's because she's geeky and awkward or because they think they can develop her by hooking her up with their favorite character, McKay. Yikes.

*sigh* It's really a shame that the show is over because it would have been nice for them to get a female writer on staff. Someone who, oh I don't know, could make sure that the men weren't totally testosterone biased. :)

I'm sad too because some of the newer writers (specifically Alan McCullough) have done some terrific writing for Teyla and I would've liked seeing more of it.

I'm glad that SGA will continue in movie format; somewhat less than enthused that it's Mallozzi and Mullie penning the first one.

I second this.

I mourn the lost potential for Atlantis.

Despite my thoughts about the writing in SGA, maybe there is another reason for the lack of Teyla presence in the recent episodes.

Maybe it is RL's choice? After all she is a mother, it is entirely possible the show producers are being considerate of that fact and giving her a break.

Being a regular cast in a TV show is a lot of work.

I gave up on great Teyla story lines ages ago. I am a bit disappointed that the show looks like it will end without a significant amount of Teyla, but I guess it's just as well and I'll save friday nights for doing something else then watching Rodney and John banter with each other in supposed slashable moments.
