Yes, I am way way way behind.
If there's anything that I'm saddened by, it's that I could never get wholly into BSG fandom back at the start. I don't know why I got stuck in SGA and not BSG - the stories are so much better, all the characters are recognised as people and given layers, the writing is solid, and I have really been enjoying Season Three.
So, today was: A Day In The Life, Dirty Hands, Maelstrom, The Son Also Rises, and Crossroads 1 & 2.
The short-short version is: quite a few people did a lot of hallucinating in these last six episodes.
Day In The Life
- felt like they used up their conflict in the 'getting Tyrol and Cally out of the airlock' and didn't quite manage to fully use the emotional punch that should have been in the flashbacks of the Adama marriage, as well as the Adama/Roslin relationship
Dirty Hands
- I really liked this one. Partly because of the social commentary about class and inheritance and power structures, partly because both Tyrol and Roslin rocked.
Maelstrom
- You know, out of all the episodes, this was the one that made me really like Kara. Not just as a character, but as a person. And I was reminded of why I liked Kara/Lee back in the beginning. That scene under the viper? Was possibly the sweetest conversation they've ever had and really pushed it home how much they care about each other, whether they're frakking each other or not.
The Son Also Rises
- Has anyone else noticed that the Lee episodes don't often end up being about Lee all that much? I liked this episode - the introduction of Badger (I've forgotten the actor's name - Mark Woodward?) as a lawyer was great, and I'm intrigued by where they started taking Lee.
Crossroads 1 & 2
- The season finales of BSG are always WOW, but this one was particularly wonderful in the way it drew out the tension. First with Baltar's trial - and Lee's Moment Of Awesome (He really needed a moment where he got to be Awesome without being overshadowed by his father or Kara - and boy, did he ever get it?) and then the drawing together of the final Four Cylons. The scene with the four of them in the room, questioning who they were and what they were going to do in the middle of the attack by the Cylons? Fantastic. Stupendous.
Unfortunately, some things were semi-spoilered for me: Kara's return and Tyrol being a Cylon for starters.
Why did they call it the Final Five? Unless, of course, Kara's the fifth one? Don't tell me if she is. There's still S4 to watch!
We're going to schedule the viewings for S4 a little more often than we managed for S3 (life got busy - it's been six months since we started getting through S3). Of course, I need to get hold of the next 8 episodes of the show in hi-res before we can do that. Anyone know who or where might have them up?
I'm rather sad that I couldn't get into the series in time to watch it with others, or discuss what happens, or to write fanfic for it.

BSG brought me into fandom, and I have a love of it for that reason. I'm a Kara girl, and a Helo girl, and was a pilots! girl. It has brought my so much love and introduced me to some very wonderful people on lj.
And, while you might have missed some of the conversations about BSG, there will be additional shows in the BSG universe for you to enjoy. So...

*casts mind back*
Yeah, there's another Cylon waiting for you in the future. :)
