I didn't participate in the Remix Redux challenge due to a severe lack of time, so, instead, I present The Theoretical Remix Meme:
Alas, I don't really have a central place where all my fics are kept. I'm trying to move things onto AO3, but it's a long and painstaking process since I have about 400 fics to post in a half-dozen fandoms and just...don't have time.
If you could remix any of my stories from any of my fandoms, which would it be and how would you remix it?

I haven't looked through your older work, but of your more recent stories, I think I'd be tempted to remix "like an open book." Probably from Ziva's point of view, and starting earlier than the scene you wrote about so that I could fill in the background. Or maybe from John's or Teyla's POV as they watch Ronon sneak up on Tony and Ziva, and then head off to do something else while Ziva's jogging and Tony's distracted. (Hmm, maybe Vala could come in and distract Tony further with a little friendly teasing. That could be fun.)

It would totally be fun!
Hey, about your Help Haiti request? I'm struggling with a John/Teyla/Cam story - I can include all three, but I don't know if I can do an OT3 story right now with my headspace and my time limits.
As it is, I'm not sure I'll get it done until later this year - I'm trying to write my Atlantis Big Bang and it's stumping me. If I don't write it for the deadline, it'll never be written.
Are you okay with waiting a little longer for your fic?

You can also take it all gen, if that's easier, as long as the three of them get to be friends all the way around, rather than 2+1. (Well, if you want to stick closer to canon, you could have John be friends with them separately, and then introduce them. As long as they end up all friends, or at least with strong bonds of mutual respect.)

I think it would be nice to write something that's focused on the friendship, but which has a little bit of het on the side. I don't see too many stories like that around - at least, not ones with het on the side.

Or you could go back and write more NCIS/SGA. ;)

How's this?
The desiccated body of a marine is found in a shipping container in DC and brought to the notice of the NCIS gang. When they check his tags, they find out he should be in Afghanistan but went AWOL a few weeks back.
While Gibbs and the NCIS gang are trying to work out how he got from Afghanistan to DC, other bodies start turning up - similarly desiccated. At this point, Vance calls Gibbs in and says that the political heat is being turned up; a Homeland Security team has been seconded to NCIS and will be working on the case with Gibbs' team.
"Who takes the lead?"
"You do. Although, I wouldn't hold my breath expecting this man to jump when you say so. His record doesn't show signs of obedience."
"Sound like someone you know, Vance?"
"His record has more blackouts than yours. In fact, it's got more blackouts than the northeast, August 2003."
The SGA team turns up, and causes all kinds of merry havoc.
:D

Ha! I love it!
And I would seriously accept a gen (or mildly shippy, in a non-McShep sort of way--not that you're likely to write McShep) NCIS/SGA crossover in place of my other requests. (Bonus points for working in Cam, Vala, Sam, and/or Teal'c, but that's not necessary. I know how hard it is to juggle that many characters. Other SG1 characters also welcome as needed, of course, since it's set on Earth.)

(I realize that listing substitutes will not necessarily speed up the writing process, especially since you're facing other deadlines. But in my experience, my best work comes when I'm genuinely inspired by an idea, so I'm trying to give options.)

And yeah, I've wanted to write a "John introduces Teyla to his brother" story for a while. I actually started one...and then it turned into an action-adventure story.
These things happen.

They do, they do.
I like plot--both reading and writing. The problem with it--at least from a writer's point of view--is that stories with plot are always so much longer!
But if you want to have John introduce Teyla and Dave and then have Dave watch in awe while John and Teyla fight off the monster de jour, that's fine too. ;) Except trying to keep it under your promised word limit could be an issue.

Otherwise, it would probably just be a small thing with Teyla and John and Torran...

But I'd feel a little bad, because that's not at all what the original deal was. (Wasn't it something like 3000 words?)
