I hadn't heard about the Legacy books but now that I've read about them, they remind me very much of the Deep Space Nine books that came out after the show was over. No reboot, they went went forward from the last episode and built on it.

I've liked many of the Atlantis novels I've read (they got better as they went along) so I'm willing to give these a shot.

I think you'll like them. jo_graham has much of the information, and it sounds like she and the others have considered where to take the story after Atlantis really carefully. Some of her musings on Teyla.

I would! I also followed the link up thread to the author's journal and I love her thoughts on Teyla.

I mean, I can't promise that you'll like them, but given how you like Teyla and Ronon and the other female characters and Pegasus...I think you will.

Which isn't to say that they're ignoring John and Rodney and the Atlantis expedition. These aren't the kinds of people who write only about the characters they love...well, they are, but they love all the characters and have thought about the storylines and where they want to take and grow the characters.

And it just happens that they've actually thought about Teyla and Ronon and Pegasus, rather than dismissing them.

I'm pretty over getting my heart broken by the Gateverse people these days. :( I plan on avoiding all new Gateverse material until it's been pre-vetted by people who are still in the fandom who tell me whether they're doing stupid things to my favorite characters or not.

I can understand that. And if this were the Stargate PTB, I'd run a mile before I let that shit touch me.

On the other hand, this story has not been seen by the show writers; it's written by people who love the characters and have thought about the characters. They have to get it past MGM, but they are stretching the boundaries as far as they think MGM will let them.
