Teyla is totally awesome! It's just unfortunate that the show isn't about her more and that the SGA PTB never realised the awesomeness the way the Merlin PTB have about Gwen.
(I'd actually recommend reading Jo Graham's SGA tie-in novel "Death Game", and the book she's written with Melissa Scott called "Homecoming". Very good books!)
