Results came back - it's not pancreatitis, unfortunately, since that's the easiest thing to treat.

However, she's responding well to the medications they've got her on, and her appetite has returned somewhat, so I'm bringing her home later this afternoon. We went to the vet yesterday and had a good snuggle for the better part of an hour. I know I felt better afterwards and I think she did, too.

We'll take her home for the week, continue the medications, and keep an eye out to be sure she's eating. If all's well, we'll take her back to the vet in a week to see if the medication has changed the imbalance in her liver enzymes. If not, or if she loses her appetite again, then the next stage is an abdominal ultrasound to check for cancer.

On the whole, it's been a salutory shot across the bows. She's fourteen years old, which is well-advanced in cat years, and while I was hoping to have her until I turned forty, at least now I'm on notice.

We're probably going to spend a nice evening reading and snuggling.
