It has rained like crazy here these last few days. I'm a bit worried about the driveway gutter at home - it needs clearing out, but there's never time. Or energy. Except now there's rain. "My roof never leaks when it doesn't rain," anyone?

...someone sit on me before I buy any more fabric. My current weakness is Amy Butler's Soul Blossoms series, which is so bright and happy and beautiful and irresistable, except I really must resist for the sake of the five boxes of fabric I already have!

I have the fabrics picked out for the Supernova quilt-along at Freshly Pieced, too. And I think I've fixed up the Sanctuary quilt issues. Except that I've run out of fabric and had to order more. (See? Five boxes of fabric.) And it will be a very busy quilt, visually.

Sel's Rule #1 of Kaleidoscope quilting: don't use fabrics with busy patterns.

In the meantime, I'm trying to sew as many blocks together so I can arrange them, photograph them, and put them away in prep for the Supernova quilt-along.

My mother generally used treacle if she couldn't find molasses.

Treacle would be an option. I'm not sure if we have any right now (I vaguely recall seeing a tin of it, but I can't remember if that was treacle or golden syrup).

Might need to do the treacle (although brown sugar is easier), simply because it already has brown sugar and dark corn syrup. (I wonder if I could get someone to send me some dark corn syrup...)

(I'll be buying light Karo syrup when I next get to Melbourne so I can make peanut butter bars, and a co-worker has an order in with me for Reeces Pieces. So I could get some and send it on, but I likely won't be getting to Melb until late April/early May.

You can get molasses in Australia but it's usually sold in drums and fed to horses and cows. We considered it a most excellent treat when I was a wee gel.

That doesn't help you, though. :)

CSR produces treacle and you can find that in some supermarkets next to the golden syrup.

I know we can get treacle, but sometimes you'd like to get the 'real deal'. I wonder if it would make it to Australia in a package?
