hockey semis

Having hit the 'required age', I've been playing in the Veterans' Hockey Competition this season and for the first time since we've had a Vets' team, we made it into the semifinals!

Top four teams make it into the semis:

1st position team plays 2nd position team, 3rd position team plays 4th position team. The winner of "1st vs. 2nd" goes into the grand final, the loser plays the winner of the "3rd vs. 4th" game in the finals. The winner of that game goes into the grand finals.

We were 3rd, and played the team who came 4th, and then we made it into the finals!

Except we lost. To a very bitchy team. :(

On the other hand, they lost their cool for most of the game. They lost their cool a lot. As in, chatback to the umpires, and pushy-pushy-shovey-shovey. And we took them into extra time because they scored the first goal...and then I scored a leveller! (It wasn't much - it kinda rolled off my stick and through the goalie's legs. But, hey, goal!)

It was a good game - as in, some good play. We could have won it if everyone had been on their game. (We just weren't quite there.)

But there wasn't good sportsmanship. Which can make games like these a bit of a disappointment.
