An assortment of snapshots from the Life of Sel.

1. Jobsearching sucks. It doubly sucks when you think you've probably applied for the same job at least three times, but nobody's given you a call, so you can't be sure.

2. Having time to do stuff = very cool. I'm 9 quilt tops through my plan of 12 quilt tops for 2011.

3. Having time to do stuff = getting stuff done around the house. Mostly maintenance-type stuff, like replacing light globes that burned out, and getting the oven replaced.

4. Quilting is an excellent activity for watching cop shows, or something that I don't want to get into too heavily because of a high FAIL factor.

5. When a costume pattern says "size 12", they don't mean "Australian size 12"; they mean "Australian size 14-16".

6. You can fix a pattern that's two sizes too large by sewing a REALLY BIG centre back seam. Unfortunately, this does nothing for shoulder-to-waist lengths.

7. I don't need 'sleeve flanges'. They make my shoulders look like they belong to a model from the 80s.

8. If I didn't have the time, I couldn't go fabric shopping. Since I do have the time to go fabric shopping, I don't have the money.

9. My parents (all three of them) are quite awesome on a scale of caring. Sometimes this bears remembering; particularly when they annoy me and I wish they weren't so interfering.

10. Having time to plan the original fiction = awesome.

11. Writing 500 words a day to an original fiction can be very easy; it can also be very easy to put off, and put off and put off and put off...

12. Chatswood's new 'Concourse' with water feature with art representing Inanna's journey to the underworld, and library chairs which look out on it = really great place for sitting and writing/planning/reading/contemplating.

13. Losing excess weight = good; it's nice to feel better about oneself.

14. No longer fitting into comfy old clothes = bad; I don't wanna go shopping! (Can't afford it anyway.)

15. Saving for a rainy day is a really good idea, even in a country that tends to end up stricken by drought.

16. Harry Potter Next Gen fic-writing is addictive.

17. Pinterest is addictive. And pretty!

18. National Novel Writing Month is going to be a lot of fun this year. I don't know how much writing I'll get done, but it'll be a very enjoyable journey with a bunch of people I've become good friends with in the last 12 months.

19. Anyone want a couple of cushion covers? Quilts are big and expensive and difficult to make, but I can do cushion covers quite simply! (And Australia Post doesn't charge $80 to get them out of the country.)

20. I'm giving Agam Darshi the Sanctuary Kaleidoscope Quilt this weekend at the con. (But she doesn't get the cat. Crap, I hope she's not allergic to cat fur...)

And 21. On Sunday, I'm going to stay with [livejournal.com profile] saramund, her hubs, and her quidlings for several days. Haven't seen them in AGES...

Yeah, I've noticed that about # 11. So can 100 words. Or 2. Or even 1.

Then again, procrastinating is my Superpower. I'm hoping that means I get to put off dying too, but we'll just have to wait and see. Probably not though, because in college I always wrote my papers on the typewriter (ewww, that dates me) but they were always turned in on time. So probably it just means that I get to die quickly, with a number of hastily corrected errors.

Did I mention that I was (and still am) a rather spectacularly bad typist, who used to go through gallons of correction fluid? Now I just wear out my backspace button...

Ah, well. It's a little late here on the East Coast of the US (4:43 a.m.) and I'm about to head off to bed.

[wanders of muttering "Key! Key! Backspace KEY!"]
