1. Losing one's passport.
2. Two months before travelling to China.
3. Where a visa is required.
4. And those two months include the Christmas period.
5. In which reapplying for said passport requires a 'proof of citizenship' because apparently a previously-held passport is not sufficient.
6. Copy of said 'proof of citizenship' (in this case a birth certificate) may also have been lost.
7. The process of getting a new one of which is a bureaucratic nightmare.

*le sigh*

No job, little writing. Not enough sleep, too much food.

BLEH.

Oh, ouch. So sorry. You have my wholehearted sympathy.

Only Son graduated in May with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in philosophy, and is still looking for that elusive first job. This economy is no fun at all. Currently his sister is keeping him (barely) afloat, and he's managed to pick up a few temporary hours lifting things around in a warehouse for window treatments where a friend works, but that's only been enough to make sure he doesn't default on his student loans.

So you have my sympathies there too. It's tough, and after a while it's kind of soul-eroding. I hope something comes your way soon.

Exactly. After a while you end up a bit mired on Planet You. I think it has something to do with the number of hours spent in the home. It turns you inward, and it isolates you.

I bet more of them than you imagine are saying to themselves "Whatever happened to Tielan? She's been awful quiet of late." Unfortunately, it isn't generally the done thing to go hunt someone down in those circumstances.

I myself have had much of my time sucked into a drama where one of my lj friends has had her depression suddenly throw her off the deep end where she was (in the words of the poet Stevie Smith) "not waving but drowning". I'm really not the fastest or most accurate of typists, and I find myself generating vast reams of words to her each night.

It's a little exhausting, but I can't just stand and watch someone self-distruct (literally) and do nothing. If she stops being defeatist and gets help for herself then it will all be worth it, and if she keeps spiralling down, well at least I will be able to look myself in the mirror in the morning and have some self respect because I tried.

She posted pictures of her kids in their Halloween costumes, and right below that were words that were clearly a desperate cry for help. Most people's reaction? "Hugs! You have really cute kids!"

Sometimes people can be scary!

Anyway, I've been enjoying your quilt posts, I just haven't had anything to say about them. I hate to say something forced, and "Ooooh, pretty!" is in a way damning with faint praise, although it is actually heartfelt.

Yowch. Praying it turns out ok.
