Went to the doc: apparently it's cellulitus - inflammation of the tissues. A common reaction when being bitten by bull-ants.
I am now on a cocktail of antibiotics, antihistamines, and prednisone and the swelling has gone down, although it still itches like crazy.
The hand is being kept cool (although not presently elevated) by dint of a cool pack. And I think it maybe time for bed.
But I figured I'd let those of you who are worried about the lethal Australian fauna know what's going on. :)
Title references an old chant that my sisters used to sing:
They went to the doctor and the doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
I have no idea why there were monkeys or what they were doing jumping on the bed, but there's a part of me that will always associate going to the doctor with monkeys jumping on the bed...

Although probably not too much this afternoon. It's starting to feel a little overheated again...

This is the third spot I've gotten it. O Joy. O Rupture.
