She died last night around midnight.
I'm glad she's finally at rest and out of pain. It was a very slow end for her and she professed herself tired.
So there are things to sort out and tidy up, and family things to arrange and work out.

The last of my grandparents, my maternal grandmother, died at the age of 97 back in 2007. While my paternal grandfather died quickly of a heart attack at the age of 93, both my grandmothers, who both made it to 97, dwindled, and got to be more the Grandmother Exhibit than the grandmother we all remembered. I certainly hope that when it is my time, I go swiftly and silently, like a thief in the night.
My point, I guess, is this: Her pain is over, and she is released. It is you and your family that bear the pain now, and I hope that you will soon reach the place where the happy memories outweigh the sad, and where you can feel the joy you had in her companionship and her love, even as you miss her, because of course the depth of your loss is but an acknowledgement of the richness of the love you shared.
