Hans Zimmer is a musical god. I adore his sountrack scores and have ever since watching the opening scene of The Rock.
However, listening to the soundtrack of PotC: At World's End, I'm a little confused by the fact that the track "I Don't Think Now Is The Time" seems to be split into two parts, and if I have my musical themes right, in the movie the first part of the track actually happens after the second track.
The first half seems to be from when the Flying Dutchman turns up and Cutler Beckett says something to the effect of, "Ah, there's the Dutchman. How nice of them to join us." And then realises that, uh, Davy Jones is dead and Will's now captain of the Dutchman, and this is Bad News for the East India Company. And the Dutchman and the Pearl kick the Endeavour's ass to the most amazing bloody orchestral/choral ending I have ever sat in my seat and been riveted by. To put it lightly.
Then the second half is the bit before that, during the massive fight between Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones, when Will and Elizabeth get married by Barbossa in the middle of the fighting on the Flying Dutchman (holy cow, that love theme fricking soars), culminating in Will getting mortally wounded and Elizabeth and Jack stabbing Davy Jones' heart for him before he dies (those augmented chords work their way up to Elizabeth's heartbreak like a punch in the gut). And then the music softens as the Dutchman's crew claim their captain and Jack gets Elizabeth off the ship, but the music still holds that light driving note because this battle is won but the war isn't over.
At least, that's how I think it all goes together. And I shouldn't be thinking about this while working, but I'm listening to soundtracks to keep myself and GODDAMN IT IS AMAZING. But confusing because this track on the soundtrack is out of order...at least, I think it is? Help? I don't know where our copy of PotC: AWE is so I can't rewatch.
