The Gods of Fandom do not like me. At all.

Once again I find myself in a fandom with a heroic team leader and a snarky genius as the fannish favourites and all I can think about is writing the girls. And, moreover, my baby is the more stoic (and less developed) of the two Stoic Action Girls, who even the people who like the girls tend to be 'meh' about.

The Gods of Fandom (or possibly of the Gods of Fiction Tropes) do not like me. At all.

Fandom has a stupidly large hard-on for snarky geniuses, that's all I can think of when I read fic in this fandom and said snarky genius is somehow far more caring or nice than his actual character on-screen. ETA: And I actually like the snarky genius' on-screen characterization, but I don't have the massive love for him that almost everyone else seems to.

But then again, I got de-friended already for daring to criticize the fandom (and one of the criticisms I made was that the fandom tends to ignore said Stoic Action Girl with less screen-time when they write shipping fic).

You know, granted, Maria is not a) one of the Avengers, b) previously in any of the movies, so it is kind of to be expected that she's going to get less fic time. But to get defriended for saying as much? *shakes head*

Frankly, I know I'm "weird" by fandom standards: I like the girls. I like the stoic girls. I like the stoic action girls. I like the stoic action girls paired up with the emotionally constipated hero guys.

...which technically means that Mal/River should probably be my Firefly pairing. Except it's not. Except in a completely platonic/mentor-y kind of way. Even weirder.

I sometimes think it would be nice to have a whole heap of other fans who thought this way (as in, the vast majority of fandom) but then I wonder what the hell I'd do... :)
