I'm not usually one for friending memes: I don't have "fannish" tastes in characters (ie. white, male, geeky, emotional) so I'll find maybe one fan in fifty with the same character interests as me, and then usually we'll end up differing on the pairings we prefer them with.

Would there be any point in a female-character-friendly Avengers friending meme? Would you join in? Promote? Actually friend people from it?

Should someone else do this instead of me? (ie. the "oh, I'd never join anything that was run by her" syndrome of fandom. You know what I mean.)

I know that 90% of the participants would be C/N fans, most of whom already LJ in each others' pockets, but I'm hoping for a few Maria-fans or Jane-fans out there. (Haven't met Betty Ross, yet; we're having a Marvel Avengers Movieverse day on the 23rd September with a friend's boxset.)

Separately: I think there might be a few people who've friended me from Avengers fandom, and other than your name, I have no idea why you're here. Leave a comment, tell me about yourself, what are you doing here? I'd like to friend you, but I generally try to meet people first.

Sometimes it's hard to be a fan of all the women, you know? But I really do love them all. I think you'll like Betty Ross! She's amazing. Have you met Peggy Carter yet?

I have a list of Avengers ladies that I desperately want to see in the movies too. Except for Janet, I may have to hope in vain.

(If you decide you don't want to run a female-character friendly Avengers friending meme, I'll do so.)

That's always the problem, isn't it? More bunnies than time? Or it is for me.

I prefer the movies in some ways, to be honest. Then I don't have decades of continuity to remember. But there are always more amazing women in the comics, so they're a nice sideline to steal from, I think.

Mostly, though, I'd like to see the current female characters get more love before introducing a flotilla of female characters that none of the (male) writers know what to do with.

TOTALLY understood. And sympathized with! Given what they've done to some of the women, I live in fear every time a new movie comes out. For example, I didn't know that they would be doing good with Natasha and Maria and Pepper in this movie until I saw it. And I didn't trust that they were going to either. Too many heartbreaks. (I would bet you're not surprised.)
