And, yeah, the second. *shudders* You just need to know what happens, but it's such an effort to plough through to the end!
Popular books that are like that are okay, because someone will tell you the ending (or, if they're really famous, Cleolinda puts together a "in five minutes" for it). But less-popular ones? Much harder to find.
