gah. finally getting things sorted out

I still hate Windows 8. But the Start 8 app makes it vaguely useable.

And then there's the issue of having to reinstall everything. And download my pop mail. 383 messages to one of my fannish accounts. (It's where all the notifications of comments and kudos and stuff like that goes, so...there's quite a lot of it all stored up.)

Also, I have no idea why my computer has 22.2G already used.

Start 8 app?

It's a...workaround. Executable. (Not an app as we understand it for smartphones.)

You execute it and it brings back the win7 start menu and automatically loads up the traditional desktop. It's pretty good.

I think it's by a company called Star Dock - google "start 8" and you should find it. The site isn't very pretty, but you can also check cnet.downloads for it - I think I got it from there.
