After 'And Baby Makes Eight (Avengers)' (which I keep thinking I really should write a little 'endstory' featuring Pippa growing up and realising that not everyone has superheroes as a family) my next most-subscribed story is: 'Nothing To Lose (Avengers)', which has been waiting for the grand finale for, oh, only about a year now.

*blushes*

After that is 'The Gathering Clouds (Avengers)' which is - quite wierdly - a fusion featuring the Avengers in the Psy-Changeling universe from Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling book series. I wouldn't have thought that would prove so popular with only two chapters and a very specific and not-very-used universe premise, but it's just ahead of 'The Naming Of Foxes (Pacific Rim)'.

'The Naming Of Foxes' is istelf tied in 4th with 'Pursuit Of Phenomenally Unlikely Payoffs (Avengers)' - a Harry Potter high school AU - and just ahead of 'Anchor and Anchorage (Pacific Rim)' which I have yet to finish for the [livejournal.com profile] wipbigbang. *sigh*

Then it's a pretty big gap to 'Scar Tissue (Pacific Rim)' and 'The Right Hand Knows Not (Avengers)'

It's interesting to see what people are waiting on. Or were waiting on.

I think my biggest fear with finishing things is that it won't be satisfying to the reader. Or to myself. That I won't have performed all the necessary authorial rites and rituals required to get the reader out of that story with a sense of completion.

And so often, in fanfic, authors (including myself) start with really good ideas...and then lose the plot. (Oh hai thar 'Anchor And Anchorage' ARGH)

That's why I don't post WIPs. Well, two of the reasons. a) I'm not disappointing people and b) I don't have a chance to psych myself out.

I used to subscribe to individual works, but now I just subscribe to authors. The reasoning is that if I've liked X by them enough to want to know how it ends, I'll probably like more things by them.
