I'm thinking [livejournal.com profile] cailetr might be able to help? Hon?

Getting from ATL airport to the Atlanta Mariott at midnight on a Thursday, I'm guessing a taxi? Any idea how much it would cost?

(Anyone else feel free to chime in. Just looking at options right now...)

Call the Atlanta Marriott and see if they provide a shuttle.

D'oh. I wasn't thinking (and as I've only just added you, wasn't really aware of where you were). Maybe they have email you can contact them with?

Also, am following for Maria Hill stuff. No one seems to be talking about her and I'm completely confused. :D

Ooooh, I am waaaay out of my depth on this one. I have only seen Avengers and The Winter Soldier. I haven't watched any AOS. I have no clue what her suit looked like.

Also, the last time *I* bought a suit had to be like 18 years ago. I cobbled something together at a Talbot's, but it seems like that might be classier than what you are thinking. JCPenney maybe? I also suck at shopping for clothing. I have been a stay at home mom for 12+ years and not paid much attention to clothing (not to mention which I've never been terribly interested in clothes...)

Um, was this helpful? I know a couple people who might have a better idea than me that I could ask if this is not good enough.

Hurray! Sorry I had to be so wordy to get that, but glad I could help :D

I travel to Atlanta frequently for work as our main office is there. Which Atlanta Marriott? There are many :)

A taxi would be quite expensive, most hotels do offer shuttle service but if they're in outlying suburbs they might not. Atlanta is kind of sprawling and the traffic is horrible.
Since my office is quite a distance from the airport I often take the MARC (train) directly from the airport and then arrange a ride from the MARC station (taxi, local hotel shuttle or co-worker)

Is it D*C that you're attending? If so, YAY! :D

Yeah, I would hesitate in an unknown city at night, too. When traveling for work and I'm in that scenario I'm expensing it so I don't worry overmuch about the cost.

I don't think that one offers shuttle service. it looks like this marriott?

It's only 12 miles or so from the airport so a taxi won't be $150 USD - probably around $30/40 (I would guess?) The taxi services are available just outside the baggage claim area at the airport. They are pretty well marked, usually you go outside and queue for the next taxi.

Also, JC Penny isn't horribly popular lately for mid-cost women's business suits in the US. Not that it's not fine and a recognizable department store. But like Sears I don't know many people who actually shop there for work clothes.
Kohl's and Boscov's are probably the most economic and common for day-to-day business attire. Nordstrom's and Talbot's would be completely reasonable when shopping for one "best suit".
There's my unsolicited two cents. :)

Nordstrom's Rack.
Decent quality, classic styles, sale racks. Practical, efficient and usually look like they cost more then they really did.

It's formally Nordstrom Rack and yes, it's a sub-store. It's associated with Nordstrom's and there is one in most major cities.

Seconding (thirding?) the Marriott shuttle. If they're holding a convention of any sort there, they'll almost certainly have a free or low-cost shuttle. They probably have one on a set schedule, but if you can contact them ahead of time to confirm, that would be best. You may also want to ask if they charge and/or allow tipping--typical tipping in this situation would be about $5.

Also, to answer your question re: business suits, a higher-end department store like Macy's or a mid-range clothing store like Ann Taylor or Banana Republic would probably be closer to Maria's price range/style/needs than JC Penney or Sears (JC Penney used to be higher end, but it has had a lot of financial trouble recently and their quality has gone waaay downhill).

I was wondering about Ann Taylor. I wasn't sure of the range [personal profile] tielan was looking for, not being familiar with AOS or Maria Hill, really. I've only *just* become enamored of her after The Winter Soldier where she barely appears.
