One Maria Hill rec and four Rarewomen recs (one of which is also a Maria Hill rec).

Maria knew better than to invest herself in the metal bones of this place. The helicarrier's engines roared like a thudding heart. The control room windows were vast. She stood at the helm there, at Fury's shoulder, in streaming daylight and in the peaceful dark of a moonless night pinpricked with stars somewhere high over the Atlantic.
The helicarrier rumbled under her feet and Fury ran a fond hand along one metal wall, like Coulson did with that car of his, the way Sharon stood in the Triskelion and nearly glowed.
Fury called it cancer once, after Loki’s attack was over, once Barton was back in the fold and New York saved. She kept in step behind him as Fury walked the helicarrier halls, reviewed the damage, as he mourned.
“No, sir,” she said. “Just war.”
Brilliantly written, beautifully developed Maria and everyone. It really brings home the connections within SHIELD and the connections within Maria.
The kind of writing I aspire to and just can’t quite manage.

Rarewomen Recs
I pretty much read through anything that had a fandom I knew and characters I was interested in reading about, although now I think about it, I think I missed a BSG fic about Racetrack back a bit, and didn't finish the one with Boomer and Elosha.
Rabbit by sanguinity
Rabbits are tough little bastards.
Five Jesses who have seen Judgement Day, and one who has not.
I never finished watching Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles but I figured I knew enough to read this fic. I didn’t. But it was still awesome – that sense of a thirty-Xanatos pile-up happening behind the scenes? Totally accurate and very amazing.
Something In Common by Gray Cardinal
"Six hundred numbers in this phone, and guess how many of those I could call for help with this stuff." Before Alexis could answer, Mandy Sutton made a game-show buzzer noise. "That would be one."
Alexis and Mandy Sutton in the wake of the S6 episode ‘Limelight’ which I haven’t seen. Nevertheless, the idea of Alexis as a very mature, very thoughtful young woman, helping others make choices and making choices herself, was appealing. I clicked. I liked. Very enjoyable.

Eve has always been the best shot in her family.
This story has a ferocious M and Eve dynamic that goes totally against the usual lines of ‘female friendship’ and yet which works completely with their circumstances and positions. Sniping, but not mean. Conflict, but not personal. The sense that they’re two peas in a pod and so, of course they’re going to rub up against each other in ways that aren’t societally comfortable. But they do respect each other, and goad each other in their various ways. A really well-done story for a non-customary dynamic between two female characters that works perfectly for who they are.

Judy Witwicky's parties are always the best. Her son's will be no exception. Absolutely.
So, I’ve watched the first two Transformer movies by Michael Bay and…neither one appealed particularly much. I clicked on this story mostly out of curiosity. I found a beautiful, hilarious fic about a woman just trying to hold onto the little things in life for a son who’s running around trying to save the world with his alien machine friends. And things go from bad to worse to absolutely beautiful and sweet - definitely one to read to put a smile on your face!
On Leave (The World Keeps Spinning) by evandar
Maria Hill is not unaffected by the battle in New York (though she wishes she was). Being on leave is more of a challenge these days; she just can't believe that the world keeps spinning.
What the aftermath of a major battle means for an ordinary woman, trying to live a not-so-ordinary life.

Did you know there are only 11 Maria & Pepper fics in AO3? Eleven. *boggles*
