So, trying to persuade my sister into renovations before we move. I think she's pretty persuadable - it will depend on the pricetag.

A graphic of the house plan. Not exact, but gives you an idea of how everything is laid out.

house

The street is to the left of the image, and the boundary of the property finishes about 1m beyond the verandah edge.

Structural changes I'd like to do:
  1. remove the 'storage cupboard' in the entryway, opening up the dining space to the entryway. We'd put bookshelves in that space instead.
  2. take the wall out between the laundry and the passageway out the back, so it's all one space - there's three doors in a 2m square space and it's ridiculous

At some point (in a couple of years) I might manage to persuade B1 into a new kitchen. But that's a later thing, not a now thing.

Frankly, all this house stuff is kind of stressful.

Anyway, we're taking possession on the 1st Sept, now. They called to ask for an extension to the contract, which we think is because the lady who owns it is going into a retirement village and her space won't be available there until the new quarter.

1st September is also Go-Live at this client.

I am going to be non-compos mentis that week. Seriously.

Finally - a question:

If you could make me write one of these two stories, which would it be?
- the sequel to Care And Assembly Of A Queen's Court

+1

Also, more open is a nice thing in a house in my experience.

Both of those things seem pretty reasonable, esp. the laundry room obstacle course, but you might make sure you don't need that storage before you rip it out. I mean, you have a house so you have more room for STUFF, but it might be nice to have someplace to shove extra linens.

It's an interesting little house; I like the enormous veranda. Is it screened in?

Also, I vote Maria and Bucky.

I meant, uh, window screening? To keep bugs out?

And that's still cool, you can just put up bushes that grow big to block out the wall. Private green space!

All reasonably small scale but functional renovations, providing none of the walls slated for removal is weight-bearing.
