Didn't happen.
The movers came with their 8T truck, looked at the driveway and weren't willing to take it down. They called for a smaller truck and we waited two hours.
The 4.5T truck came and the drivers looked at the driveway, looked at our load and said that they didn't want to drive it back up the driveway all loaded down because they didn't think the engines could take it.
They were willing to carry it up all the stairs, but it would be a 15 hour job with four men.
Yeah, nope.
B2 got her things out this morning - the truck came (these movers originally cancelled on Wednesday due to rain, never mind that the other neighbours got their movers to come, take their stuff and go on Wednesday), they were packed in an hour and gone.
So it can be done, it just needs movers who have the balls to do it.
Either way, it leaves B1 and I to find movers that will actually take on our driveway.
So, stressful.
And then there are complications over at the house. The laundry isn't finished and we were going to put the cats there at night. Then, the floorboards have been shoddily done. It looks like they did the edges, let them dry, and now there's a 'paint line' about 15cm around the room - it's very obvious across the boards, as well as other sections of the room.
I'm disappointed. The floor people came recommended, and the guy who I met and spoke with seemed competent. But the job was shoddy the first time - it's not just me being picky, it's that there's a visible paint-line all around the edge of the room and this is not acceptable.
They came back on Friday afternoon and redid a very small portion of the hallway - the worst part - but if we were moving in on Saturday, they said they couldn't do much more. Which, fair enough. Only we're not moving in for at least another week now, so...
So tired of all the moving drama - not least of which is that the bottom room in our house is full of STUFF, none of which has been touched in three years. Of course, if I throw any of it out without consulting B2, then there will be screeching fit to be heard through the city.
*sigh*
